Week 7 – Practive for developing final outcome

This week, I practice with some materials for my final outcome, I tried using clay for my 3D modals and oil pastel for my abstract painting.

After watching Tiktok video, I practice using clay to make a small shark model. This is my first time using clay so I followed a video tutorial on tiktok to get used to it. The most difficult part was connecting the fish and the round base together so they wouldn’t separate after drying. But if I scratch some marks for the contact part when attaching and add water then it will stick better after drying.

Then, I try oil pastels a little bit with Vangogh Styles

For this painting, I started with big straight lines and dark colors first(because I want to know that can I fix the dark colors for blending), but it’s not very good. This made color correction is more difficult to fix, and I forgot to color the moon first. As a result, I saw that the moon was stained with blue of the sky. The color of the painting is not clean and had many staining place, especially is the yellow part of the moon and bright spot.

After this, I will try using the light colors first and testing colors before coloring the drawing.

This time, I started with small straight line and light colors which help me blend color easilier. I tested the color before I used it on the houses part, because I want to depict an old village, with many old house. However, using oil pastels with small detail is quite difficult to make it less messy.
